Wanna Make Someone's Day?

Wanna make someone's day? Give them jewelry! Christmas is such a hectic time of the year for my family, especially my mom. With all the food planning, and the gift wrapping, and the guest entertaining, it's amazing how she can handle all these tasks without losing it. A few weeks ago, she was looking at these rings online. They were from Trina Turk She kept hinting that she really wanted these rings, but then after a few days of looking at them and showing everyone, she gave up (or at least she thought she gave up). We surprised her on Christmas morning with not only one, but both of the rings she wanted. Believe me, she was VERY surprised! But she deserved it. After all, Santa Claus deserves a few gifts, right?

The rings we got her were from Trina Turk. All of their rings are very fashionable, modern, and definitely make a statement. One of the rings was the disco ball ring. It's elegant with a modern twist, and will look great with anything!

The other ring was the resin ball ring. If I had to describe this ring with one word, it would be unique. The ring we bought my mom was in the color Coral, which is so pretty! Also, the band is imprinted with a design that really catches your eye.

These rings were both on sale too, so it was a great deal, and the smile on my mom's face was definitely worth it! Check these rings out at TrinaTurk.com!

Finger Paints Nail Polish Review!

I love getting a manicure (who doesn't, right?). But when I don't have time to go to the nail salon, I try my best to give myself a good at-home manicure, and in order to do that, you need a good quality nail polish. I was always having the same problems with my nail polishes. Either they were too thick, too liquidy, or when they would dry, there would be tiny air bubbles all over my nail. Trust me, that's not attractive. Anyway, I was at Sally Beauty Supply, and as I was making my way to the cash register, the "Buy 2, get 1 free" sign over the nail polishes caught my eye. Clearly I had to get some.
I bought a few nail polishes from the brand Finger Paints. Each nail polish costs about $4.99, but because of the deal Sally Beauty Supply had, I got three for the price of two. I've tried two of the colors I bought, but I really liked one in particular, and that is the color "Natural Talent". It is a light pink, very natural looking color. It can be used as the base color for a French manicure. I put two coats (the color wasn't very visible with just one coat) and I must say I'm impressed. The nail polish wasn't too thick or thin, so it was really easy to apply. Also, no air bubbles! It dried up in about five minutes, and it was nice and smooth.
Overall, I really liked this nail polish! I definitely recommend this product, so check it out at Sally Beauty Supply.

Victoria's Secret Haul!

Hey guys!
Sorry it's been a few days since I've been on here. I've been busy wrapping up all the Christmas presents! I was having trouble trying to figure out what to get my friends this year. I haven't been friends with them for so long so I wasn't sure what to get them. Then I remembered the last time when I went to the mall, I went to Victoria's Secret. I absolutely love Victoria's Secret lotions and fragrances. They smell sooo sweet and feminine. Victoria's Secret has a lot of gift sets with their signature fragrances and body care products, and all for great prices! I bought two of my friends the Body Mist Gift Set. It comes with five 1.7 oz body sprays, Love Spell, Coconut Passion, Pure Seduction, Lost in Fantasy, and Secret Charm. They smell great, and this gift set was only $15.
Another gift set I bought was their Hydrating Body Lotion Gift Set. It comes with five 1.7 oz lotions in the same scents as the body mists. This was also $15.
Some other small gifts I bought for only $10 were the ornament gifts. These are great stocking stuffers and will make anyone happy to unwrap them!
You can check them all out at Victoria'sSecret.com.

Hey guys!
So today I was having one of those lazy days. Here's how my day went so far:
6:30-2:30 - got up, get ready, and went to school
2:30-3:00 - came home, put on my pajamas, and ate a snack
3:00-now - sat on the couch watching the Clique movie and Family Guy reruns (Thanks Netflix)

I know, right? What an exciting day. Well at least I don't have to worry too much about doing any last minute studying because tonight we're supposed to be getting 3-5 inches of snow. That means there's a 90% chance we're having a snow day. I normally spend my snow days all snug inside my house (btw, I can't stand being outside when it's snowing/cold... how many hours away is Florida?).
But tomorrow I'm planning on spending my day with my older sister at the mall for some last minute Christmas shopping. I'm planning on doing a Christmas shopping haul tomorrow as soon as I get back.

One store I specifically have in mind that would be great for getting all my friends gifts for the holidays is Victoria's Secret. Now I don't plan on buying my friends lingerie or anything, but instead I'm thinking about getting them all gifts from the Victoria's Secret makeup, lotion, and perfume collections. They make such cute gifts and the prices are great. Stay tuned in tomorrow for a haul!

Barney the Dinosaur Eyes Tutorial...?

Ok, so as I was doing this tutorial, I was trying to think of a catchy name I could give this look, but I couldn't think of anything. Then, as I was selecting which pictures I was thinking, what do these colors remind me of?
Then it hit me.
Green. Purple. Dinosaur. Barney.
Enjoy : )

Step 1: Prime your lids. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance, but any base or primer will work.

**I used eye shadows from Ulta, as you can see in the picture at the top. The eye shadow names are:
Top Left: Shamrock
Bottom Left: Amethyst
Top Right: Plum Smoke
Bottom Right: Mystical

Step 2: Using an eyeshadow brush, apply the color Plum Smoke all over your eyelid.

Step 3: Using a crease brush, apply the color Mystical into your crease.

Step 4: Using an angled eyeshadow brush or a crease brush, apply the color Amethyst into the outer corners of your eye, blending it together with the crease color Plum Smoke.

Step 5: Using an angled eyeliner brush, line your lower lash line with the color Shamrock, winging the color up to your brown bone.

Step 6: Line your upper lashes with a dark chocolate brown eyeliner. I used Too Faced Lava Gloss Eyeliner in Chocolate Lava.

Step 7: Using a smudge tip, Smudge the color across your lash line. softening the dark brown color. Also, apply the eyeliner onto your waterline.

Step 8: Apply two coats of mascara on your top lashes, and one coat on your bottom lashes. I used L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black.

And there you have it, you're Barney eyes.
:P

REVIEW: L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara

I recently bought L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara, and instead of telling you how amazing this mascara is, I'm going to show you!

This is before I applied the mascara             This is after I applied the mascara

As you can see, the mascara really separated and lengthened my eyelashes. It comes with a thick wand that has tiny bristles all over it which separate all your eyelashes without any clumps. It also lengthens and volumizes your lashes very well. I am pleased with this product. It costs about $9 and can be purchased at any drugstore. This mascara is absolutely wonderful and I will be using it for a very long time.

Home away from home

Hey guys. Today I've been having one of those "homesick" kind of days. Even though I don't live in New York City anymore, it still feels like I've just been on a very long not-so-fun vacation away from my home. I still can't believe it's been a little over two years since I moved to Ohio. It's crazy how fast time flies (but hey, I'm not complaining. I want the next four years to fly by!).
I think I must have had a dream about New York last night, because something stirred up the New Yorker in me and reminded me of my home, (I really should stop calling it my home, since it technically isn't my home anymore) and since it's almost Christmas, that made me even more nostalgic.
If you've ever seen all those Christmas movies that take place in New York City, then you know how magical they make it seem to be there during the holidays. But the truth is, New York City during Christmas time is just as magical as it seems in the movies.
*Cue Christmas music*
Christmas is my favorite time of the year! When I think of the holidays, I think of ice skating in Rockefeller Center, watching the ball drop in Times Square (on the TV of coarse, because let's be real; if you were actually out in the cold watching the ball drop, you would wish you were back inside in front of the TV enjoying the magic in the heat), and stopping by every single NUTS-4-NUTS stand you see and buying packs of hot, roasted almonds and pistachios because even though they taste good, the real reason you buy them is to keep your hands warm. I also think of spending time with my family and friends.
Now if you were wondering why i said earlier that I want the next four years to go by fast, it's because in four years I will be graduating, and then I will be off to college. And where do I plan on going to college?
Yep, you guessed it. New York City.
I don't only want to move back there for college because I miss New York. I want to move back because I plan on studying journalism and fashion, and one day work for a big fashion magazine. And what better place to achieve my dreams than New York City, The Fashion Capital.
Many people tell me that I should have more of an open mind, that I shouldn't decide from right now that working in the fashion industry is the one and only career I'm thinking about. But I like planning ahead, I like knowing what my goals are. It gives me something to work and look forward too. I'm positive that this is what I want to be doing when I'm older. I can't wait until my dream becomes my reality.
Do you like planning your future ahead of time? How do you know when you're completely sure of something? What are some of your goals you're working towards? How are you spending the holidays? How do you deal with homesickness?

Until my next blog,
Andrea

It's never too late for Autumn Eyes! Tutorial

Hey guys. I recently went to Ulta and they had a sale on their Ulta Brand eye shadows, so naturally, I just had to get some! I was surprised with the quality of their eye shadows. They blended really well, and as far as their pigment goes, they were pretty good. These are the colors I used:
This look reminded me of Autumn colors. It's a very warm look, and will look great for any occasion!
Enjoy : )

Step 1: Prime your upper and lower lids. I used MAC Paint Pot in Painterly.

Step 2: Using an eyeshadow brush, apply the color Suede all over your eyelids.

Step 3: Now take the color Camel and apply it from your brow bone to your crease.

Step 4: Using a crease or angled aye shadow brush, apply the color Mink into your crease. Make sure to blend the color really well.

Step 5: Using an angled eyeliner brush, line your lower lash line with the color Chianti. Make a wing all the way up to your brow.

Step 6: Line your upper lashes with a dark chocolate eyeliner. I used Too Faced Lava Gloss Eyeliner in Chocolate Lava. Make the line a little bit thicker than usual. It's fine if it looks messy. You're going to be smudging the eyeliner next.

Step 7: Using a smudge tip, smudge the eyeliner across your upper lash line.

Step 8: Line your waterline and lower lashes with the same eyeliner.

Step 9: Apply two coats of mascara on your top lashes, and one coat on your bottom lashes. I used L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black. When applying your mascara, brush your lashes towards the outer corner of your eye like this:

I hope you like this look : )

Hint of Green Eyes Tutorial

I tried this look on my little sister, and I must say, I'm really happy with the way it turned out! The green looks soft and subtle, and it can totally be worn as an everyday look!
Enjoy : )
(By the way, this tutorial was done on my sister, thanks for letting me try this look on you!)

Step 1: Prime your upper and lower eyelids. I used Mac Paint Pot in Painterly.

Step 2: Using an eyeshadow brush, pat MAC All That Glitters eyeshadow all over your lids.
Step 3: Using crease brush or an angled eyeshadow brush, blend MAC Wondergrass eyeshadow (which is the color I used but has been discontinued, so an alternative would be MAC Swimming eyeshadow on the outer corners of your lid, as well as your crease.
Step 4: Sweep a champagne color on your brow bone. I used Victoria's Secrets Beauty Rush Wet/Dry eyeshadow in Gold Rush.
Step 5: Line your top lashes with a dark chocolate brown eyeliner. I used Too Faced Lava Gloss Eyeliner in Chocolate Lava. Line your waterline with a white eyeliner. I used NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk.
Step 6: Apply two coats of mascara on your top lashes, and one coat on your bottom lashes. I used Maybelline Define-A-Lash Lengthening Mascara in Black.

I hope you like this look : )
